Wash bedding weekly, vacuum or sweep and mop floors, dust fans and wardrobe tops monthly, air the mattress regularly and keep clutter low. These habits cut dust and allergens in the bedroom, which matters most in dusty cities like Rawalpindi.
You spend a third of your life in your bedroom, so it deserves a clean routine. Dust mites, skin flakes and outdoor dust settle in bedding, carpets and fans. Here is a practical routine.
Weekly bedroom routine
- Wash sheets and pillowcases; air blankets and pillows.
- Dust surfaces with a damp microfiber cloth.
- Vacuum or sweep and mop the floor, including under the bed.
- Wipe door handles and switches.
Monthly tasks
- Dust ceiling fans, lights and the tops of wardrobes.
- Vacuum the mattress surface and air it in sunlight when possible.
- Wash mattress protectors and pillow covers.
- Clean window sills and tracks.
Every 3–6 months
- Wash curtains and cushion covers.
- Clean behind furniture and inside wardrobes.
- Do a full deep clean — see the checklist.
Reduce dust at the source
- Declutter surfaces and shelves.
- Use washable rugs instead of heavy carpets where possible.
- Keep windows closed on dusty afternoons — more in our dust reduction guide.
- Remove shoes at the door.
Keep it fresh
Ventilate the room daily, avoid storing damp clothes and use breathable storage. If you notice a musty smell, check windows, walls and wardrobes for damp.
