Eid and Ramadan Home Cleaning Checklist: Get Your Home Guest-Ready
Quick answer

Prepare for Ramadan and Eid by starting three weeks ahead: declutter, deep clean kitchen and bathrooms, clean living and guest rooms, then do light touch-ups in the final days. Book a professional cleaner early because the weeks before Eid are the busiest.

Cleaning the home before Ramadan and Eid is a tradition in many households. Guests are coming, the kitchen will be busy and everyone wants a fresh, welcoming space. A little planning spreads the work out so you are not exhausted before the festivities begin. Use this checklist to prepare.

Plan ahead: a 3-week approach

  • 3 weeks before: declutter, donate unused items, sort wardrobes and storage.
  • 2 weeks before: deep clean the kitchen, bathrooms and bedrooms; wash curtains and covers.
  • 1 week before: clean living areas and guest rooms, shop for supplies, refresh bedding.
  • Final days: light dusting, floors, fresh towels and a quick bathroom wipe.

Kitchen (the busiest room)

  • Degrease the hood, tiles, stove and cabinets — see our kitchen grease guide.
  • Clear out and clean the fridge, freezer and pantry; check expiry dates.
  • Clean the oven, microwave and small appliances.
  • Organise utensils and crockery used for serving guests.

Living and dining rooms

  • Dust fans, lights, shelves and décor.
  • Vacuum sofas and cushions; clean or air rugs and carpets.
  • Wipe tables, TV units and glass; clean windows and sills.
  • Polish floors and mop skirting.

Bedrooms and guest room

  • Change bedding and air mattresses and pillows.
  • Dust wardrobes, headboards and under the bed.
  • Prepare fresh towels and a small basket of essentials for guests.

Bathrooms

  • Descale taps and glass; scrub grout and tiles — see our limescale guide.
  • Disinfect toilets, sinks and floors.
  • Stock tissues, soap and hand towels for visitors.

Entrance and outdoor areas

  • Sweep and wash the porch, driveway and gate area.
  • Clean shoe racks and the entrance mat.
  • Wipe the main door and door handles — the first thing guests touch.
